Patrol Division

Patrol Division / Civil

The Patrol Division serves as the foundational operational unit of the Sheriff's Office, managing day-to-day responsibilities that include responding to calls for service, conducting traffic enforcement, and executing civil process. By augmenting the efforts of local police departments, deputies maintain a consistent and visible law enforcement presence within neighborhoods and communities, significantly enhancing public safety for residents and businesses throughout the county.

Deputies are assigned to one of the seven designated patrol areas within Rockingham County. Each deputy is issued a fully equipped, marked patrol cruiser that features essential technology, including radar units, a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) or laptop, and other specialized equipment such as Stop Sticks or various tactical team instruments, as dictated by their auxiliary duties and skill sets.

The integration of technology is central to ensuring maximum operational efficiency. The MDTs connect wirelessly to headquarters via CentralSquare’s Pro Suite CAD/RMS software. This system allows deputies to execute critical administrative tasks directly from their vehicles, including querying local and national DMV and NCIC databases, completing incident reports, printing traffic summonses, and electronically submitting civil process returns. This capability significantly reduces travel time and allows deputies to remain on patrol, ensuring continuous and efficient service to the public.

The Patrol/Civil Division continues to manage a demanding workload. Specifically, the Division experiences a high volume of requests for the service of civil documents, a trend notably influenced by current economic conditions. Furthermore, the Division has actively engaged in several targeted traffic enforcement initiatives designed to enhance road safety for the motoring public in Rockingham County. These successful programs, which include DWI Hunter, Operation Safe Commute, and Speed Enforcement Patrols, were all critically supported by funding secured through the New Hampshire Highway Safety Agency.
