On October 14th, Deputy Matthew Caracciolo, Fremont Sergeant Jason Larochelle, and Brentwood Officer George Abele were recognized at the NH Congressional Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony with "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty" awards. On August 5, 2015 these individuals responded to a call for a suicidal male who was actively trying to take his own life. These officers located the unresponsive individual in a running vehicle inside a locked building. They gained access & pulled him to safety where he could be treated and transported by medical personnel. These individuals were recognized for their initiative, quick thinking & determination which undoubtedy saved this man's life. Deputy Caracciolo's actions are a credit to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Rockingham County.

Bailiff Nesbitt was presented with the High Sheriff awardin recognition of his outstanding performance asa bailiff at the Rockingham County courthouse.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the swearing in of Special Deputy David B. Goldstein who will continue his work with first responder crisis intervention teams and traumatic stress within first responder community throughout NH. David B. Goldstein has been a Law Enforcement Officer for more than 45 years. He recently retired last month as the Chief of Police in the City of Franklin, New Hampshire, serving in that position from 2009-2024. Prior to that, he was the Chief of Police for the Winthrop, Mass., Police Department from 2004-09. He was a State Trooper with NH State Police from 1982 until he retired with the rank of captain in 2004.
As a Trooper he was assigned to Uniform Patrol, Field Training Officer, investigations of Crimes Against Children, Undercover Narcotics Investigations, Major Crime Unit, SWAT/Crisis Negotiations, and Polygraph Examiner. Prior to the state police, Chief Goldstein was a sworn member of the Derry, NH Police Department from 1979 to 1982. He started with the special auxiliary police in the '70s in Belmont, Massachusetts, where he grew up. At this time, he was working with police officers, focusing on mental health. This led him to eventually join the Belmont Police Department in 1978. Deputy Goldstein holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University, an M.S. in Public Health from Tufts University and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Services from Walden University.
He is also a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology/Psychology at Tufts University. He holds or has held adjunct teaching positions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also instructs at police academies in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Deputy Goldstein is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and is Board Certified in Forensic Traumatology by that organization. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners. As a Deputy Sheriff, "Chief" Goldstein will continue his important work advocating for mental health awareness and services for first responders in New Hampshire.
