COURTHOUSE SECURITY:

The Rockingham County Superior Courthouse is located in Brentwood NH and encompasses ten courtrooms. This includes two Probate Courts, three Family Courts, one District Court and four Superior Courtrooms. Six to seven courtrooms are in operation on an average day.

In addition, the County of Rockingham leases space within the building for the Registry of Deeds and the Rockingham County Attorneys Office.

The building consists of four floors. The basement floor includes the Registry of Deeds and the County Attorneys Office.

The first floor consists of the two Probate Courtrooms, Family Court Clerks Office, Probate Court Clerks Office, Exeter District Court Clerks Office and the Superior Court Clerks Office.

The second floor incorporates two Superior Courtrooms, one Family Court and Exeter District Court.

The third floor has two Superior Courtrooms and two Family Courts.

In addition to entry security, the bailiffs are required to monitor the four clerks’ offices and the lobby for security purposes.

Every month the Grand Jury sits for 4-5 days. This requires the assignment of one bailiff specifically to assist the Grand Jury.

Jury trials often require extra bailiffs to assist when verdicts are returned, they are needed to monitor people in the courtroom and for the security of the juries when they are released. The physical layout of the Rockingham County Courthouse requires that juries enter and leave in the same manner as the public.
